You’re competing for your own money.
Good news everyone!
Medium is now conducting writing competitions, potentially putting thousands of dollars in your pocket.
And if that’s not enough, if you’ve been a top contributor over the last few months you may have seen a few extra hundred bucks sent your direction.
What’s not to like!?
All of it.
One-time money cannons have a way of taking attention off of other issues going on with a platform. Because, when you stop and think about it, where is all this extra money being thrown at contests and judges and “bonuses” coming from?

If you were to ask any contributor here on Medium about their earned income off of the platform of late, they’d probably tell you they’ve seen a steady decline over the last year or so.
