Hey there Scott. Sorry for taking so long to reply. Sometimes I'm swamped with comments and don't see them all.

For whatever reason Italy was slow releasing the tax information (they didn't announce it when they launched the visa). But basically you are considered a tax resident once you receive it, which means you're taxed on all worldwide income.

Italy does have an agreement with the US so you won't be double-taxed. The tax rates vary between 23 and 43 percent (there are some differences between where you live in Italy as well).
