I was driving through southern, rural Texas a few years back. I'd pass a massive, and I mean MASSIVE ranch house, drive a mile or two, then it would look like it was 1920s Great Depression. Houses without windows or doors, then drive a few miles and repeat the process. It was rather startling just how bad it was.
