My Spanish is...okay. I wish it was better. I just struggle learning languages, despite my best efforts. The dialect here does make it a challenge because it's different from what they taught in high school. So, I can get by, order food, have basic, short conversations. I've never had a problem, although fewer people speak English than what I thought (everyone in Peru wanted to practice their English on me. Although I stood out like a sore thumb there). There are large English-speaking communities, but having some basic Spanish understanding is important for daily activities.
