No, I'm not. I've always been able to pick up things like musical instruments or art very quickly...but languages has been a struggle since high school. I take lessons, and I always start off with Spanish (it's not their job to know English), but I often still find I have to tell them my Spanish isn't good and ask if they can slow down. My experience is as long as you attempt the language, wherever you are, it shows you are trying and people are very accepting of that. It is easy enough to order food or do daily activities. Those conversations you pick up pretty quickly because you do it so frequently. The biggest barrier though is forming really strong connections with locals who only speak Spanish.
