Whether you’re looking to move to a new country or simply want a second residence elsewhere, few methods are as cut and dry as a golden visa. These visas allow you to bypass many of the traditional steps necessary for other long-term visas. However, while picking up residency thanks to purchasing a condo or starting a business in a new country is beneficial, it’s not something just anyone can do. For many, even the more affordable golden visas come with too much of an asking price.

Thankfully, there are other options.

One of the best is a retirement visa. These visas often lead to either residency or citizenship, and best of all, they cost a fraction of a golden visa. There are often some additional strings attached to these retirement visas, as some countries will not allow an individual to work (either for a local business or foreign one), and bringing dependents along can also prove more challenging as well.
