If you’ve never done it before, flying with your pet can be a daunting task.

It might seem impossible.

And it doesn’t help that you’ve probably seen videos of poodles running down the tarmac because it somehow escaped its kennel. All of this is enough to terrify you away from traveling with your pet.

Of course, traveling to a country for a few weeks with your pet may be a bit too much for most people. It does take a good amount of work, and you’ll have to set up vet visits in the foreign country in order to return to the States. However, having a pet shouldn’t prevent you from moving. In fact, you absolutely can move…though there are some specifics you need to figure out first.

But don’t worry, that’s why I’m here. When I first traveled from the U.S. to Peru, I used a pet service. After doing that, I realized I didn’t need the pet service moving forward, and that, frankly, I spent about three thousand dollars more than necessary (I had two dogs, and each one cost me close to two grand after all the import taxes).

I’ve written about all the pet gear I use when traveling (link here and there will be more at the bottom
