That was my initial assumption of the Boost platform. But honestly, at this point I'd take that over the forced censorship going on. Write exactly what Medium wants in hopes of getting boosted (and making 1/5th of what a boosted article did receive 2 months ago), or write what you want, don't get a boost, and have your article likely flagged as spam.
The powers that be need to do a better job communicating with writers (how is a writing platform so bad at that?). Frankly I'd love to know where our monthly fees are going...because it's certainly not writers (though a newly listed Medium position clearing $300K in pay/incentives seems to be grabbing a healthy chunk).
I very much have enjoyed Medium...but a ton of top flight writers have left, I've seen a bunch of "Friends of Medium" cancel their memberships, and, unfortunately, the longer this drags on the more quality writers/readers will jump ship.
