The Elements of Style is old. I mean, the guy that wrote Charlottes Webb and Stuart Little was a co-author, so it's possible it's fallen out of vogue. But the author, who is a NYT bestselling author for sci-fi several times over recommended it, and when I brought it up to a friend who majored in English at Michigan State he said he had to read it. So, I think maybe some old school college professors rely on it. It's helpful...but as I mentioned it's incredible tiresome to read. ...kind of feels like the beginning of Dead Poet's Society where they are trying to turn writing into some kind of math problem (ha, but still helpful).
And yea, I question the value as well...sometimes it just feels like an expensive entry onto my cover letter that some AI computer system will scan over.
