There is actually a law about salt in packaged foods in Argentina. I guess with all the heavy meat and cigarettes cutting back on sodium helps alleviate some of the heart problems (although heart released disease is the top health killer in the country). Most restaurants use very little seasoning, and salt/pepper aren't on the table. Many sushi restaurants don't even have soy sauce on the table, you have to ask for it (although almost all sushi rolls are crammed with cream cheese...which is one ingredient I do not like on my sushi).
