Yeah, I've been seeing other countries beginning to tighten the screws on these things. I found Spain a bit ironic because of how hard it went after wealthier expat/immigrants just two years earlier. Talk about a total 180.
Spain certainly has a major city housing problem. Preventing the 4-5% foreigner sales may help some, but I think fully blocking long-term rentals is probably a better way to go about it.
In the end I think this ends up hurting the smaller villages that are trying to attract people in order to survive and grow.
